Gunsynd Memorial

The statue commemorates the racehorse Gunsynd known as the "Goondiwindi Grey." The Apex Club of Goondiwindi commissioned the memorial from Brisbane stonemason Tom Farrell. It is a white bas-relief representation of Gunsynd.


Come along and see for yourself many of his trophies, rugs, and other memorabilia, and some remarkable photos at the Goondiwindi Visitor Information Centre. Watch a couple of videos and if you wish you can purchase a book "Gunsynd the Goondiwindi Grey" which tells the full story of this remarkable horse.

Coolmunda Dam is stocked by the Lake Coolmunda Restocking Group Inc. The dam is stocked with golden perch, Murray cod, and silver perch.


The Macintyre River 3.0 kilometre Walkway follows the majestic tree-lined Macintyre River and is a great place to view the prolific birdlife in this area.


Dumaresq River, Goondiwindi is a beautiful shady spot with opportunities to camp high above the river or for riverfront camping. This FREE, Pet-Friendly

This southern border town boasts a water tank mural that reflects the Aboriginal meaning of Goondiwindi, or “the resting place of the birds”. Among the creators were Indigenous artists Cheryl Moggs and Karlene Duncan, in celebration of connecting the country and people for NAIDOC week.
